April 12

C Tyler Hill 

Hill’s career began at Fairmont State College before making his Atlantic League Debut in 2021 with the York Revolution. He batted .252 with 2 homers in his first season in the league, and notched 3 RBI in 2023 through 6 games in his second stint with the club. Hill brings independent league experience to the Boxcars, having played against many of the opponents and players that Hagerstown will face this season. 


UTL Nicholas Diaz

Diaz began his career at the collegiate level with Incarnate Word and Keiser University. He would make his professional debut in the Pecos League in 2019, and most recently represented the Martinez Sturgeon. Diaz brings more versatility to the Flying Boxcars roster. 


UTL Demetrius Moorer

Moorer began his career with EKU, before transferring to NAIA Point Park University. At Point Park, Moorer won the NAIA gold glove at center field. In 2019, he stole 26 bases for the New Jersey Jackals, and was named to the German National Team for the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in 2022. He produced well for Germany during the WBCQ, and registered T-2 in home runs for the tournament. His Atlantic League debut also came in 2022, with the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes.

April 4

RHP Dylan Sabia

Dylan Sabia started his career in collegiate ball, representing Oregon, Central Connecticut State, and Queens College. In his final year of NCAA ball in 2022, Sabia posted a 2-0 record in relief. After his time at Oregon came to an end, Sabia represented the MLB Draft League Mahoning Valley Scrappers, striking out 36 batters in 9 appearances. 


RHP Domingo Jiminez

Jiminez represented the Cleveland Guardians’ minor league sides for four years. He would reach the A level in 2018, with the Lake County Captains, making six appearances at the level. He posted a 3-0 record. The reliever will make his independent ball debut this season with the Flying Boxcars.


RHP Taylor Lepard

The Canada native made his debut in the Frontier League in 2022, before representing the Winnipeg Goldeyes and the Ottawa Titans. Leopard will make his Atlantic League debut this Spring with the Boxcars.


OF Brandon Pugh 

Pugh began his career in the Gulf South Conference, representing North Alabama, before making his independent ball debut in 2017 with the Pecos League. He made 55 appearances for the Alpine Cowboys in 2017, slashing .346/.470/.564 before moving to the Frontier League in 2018. Last season, Pugh made his debut in the Atlantic League, with the Staten Island Ferry Hawks. In 81 appearances, Pugh stole 35 bases (T6 in ALPB), while notching 8 homers and 28 runs batted in.

March 27

INF Curtis Terry

Terry made his debut at 18 for the Texas Rangers’ Arizona Rookie League side. In 2021, he would be promoted to the Round Rock Express, the Rangers AAA affiliate, batting .275/.349/.533/.882 with 22 home runs and 75 RBI. Notably, Terry also hit for a cycle at the Triple A level with the Express in 2021. His MLB debut would come later that season when the Rangers faced off against the Astros. After his time in the MLB, Terry slashed .250/.348/.429 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI for the Minnesota Twins AAA affiliate St. Paul Saints, before having a short stint with the Orioles organization, and then joining the ALPB Gastonia Honey Hunters. The Gastonia side would go on to make an appearance in last season’s ALPB Championship Series. 


RHP Malik Binns

Malik Binns began his career at an NAIA school, Benedictine University. He would then sign for the Florida Complex League Phillies affiliate, later being promoted to the single A Clearwater Threshers. With the Threshers in 2022, Binns posted a 6-0 record, and was promoted to the A+ Jersey Shore Blue Claws, where he made 22 appearances last season. 


RHP Wilber Perez

Wilber Perez, a former White Sox and Brewers minor leaguer, made his independent ball debut in 2023, with the Mark Mason-led Empire State Greys. Perez registered one save in relief and struck out 23 batters before transferring to the Pioneer League Rocky Mountain Vibes, where he played with fellow Flying Boxcar Rafael Kelly. 


RHP Marvin Gorgas

Gorgas joined the Seattle Mariners rookie league affiliate in 2014, and only took two years to reach the AAA level, with the Tacoma Raniers. In 2019, he made his independent ball debut in the Canadian-American League and then the Frontier League River City Rascals. Gorgas registered a 0.73 ERA in 12 appearances in the Peurtorican Winter League in 2019.

March 21

OF Magneuris Sierra

Magneuris Sierra joins the Flying Boxcars having represented the Cardinals, Marlins and most recently the Angels in 2022. Sierra notably slashed .350/.381/.425 in 2019 with the Miami Marlins. Then in 2020, he would post .250/.333/.364 with 7 RBI in 44 at-bats. One of his most notable moments came with the Angels in 2022, when he registered a tenth inning RBI to extend the game, and would then notch a game winning RBI in the 12th inning to down the Oakland A’s. 

RHP Nick Trabacchi

Trabacchi joins the Flying Boxcars with local ties. A native of Hauppauge, NY, Trabacchi came to Maryland to play college ball at UMBC, where he spent the first two years of his collegiate career, before finishing at Shepherd University, just 20 miles from Hagerstown’s new ballpark. After his collegiate career ended, Trabacchi has made appearances with a number of independent league ball clubs, including the Long Island Ducks, Charleston Dirty Birds, and 46 appearances with the Empire State Greys under Mark Mason.

RHP Rafael Kelly

Kelly began his career in 2017 as a member of the Oakland A’s organization, and climbed the ranks, reaching the A+ level in 2019 with the Stockton Ports and 2021 Lansing Lugnuts. Kelly will make his Atlantic League debut as a member of the Flying Boxcars. 

RHP Enrique Santana

Bringing more Atlantic League experience to the mix. Enrique Santana made appearances for the York Revolution, Spire City Ghost Hounds and Staten Island Ferry Hawks, before joining the Flying Boxcars. Through 15 ALPB appearances, Santana has not given up a homerun. The former Yankees and Pirates minor leaguer is the newest member of the Flying Boxcars roster. 

LHP Rob Klinchock

From Pittsburgh PA, Rob Klinchock! Klinchock played college ball just down the road, at Shenandoah University, before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers organization. Klinchock began his indy ball career in 2021, posting a 5-2 record in the Frontier League, and most recently represented Winnipeg in the American Association. 

March 14

INF Osvaldo Abreu

Abreu, a local legend, makes his return to the Hub City as a member of the Flying Boxcars inaugural team. The infielder joined the Washington Nationals organization as an 18 year old in 2012, and climbed the ranks of their farm system. In 2015, Abreu had his first stint in the Hub City, playing for the Nationals affiliate A Hagerstown Suns. He made 123 appearances for the Suns, before being promoted to the Potomac Nationals. Recently, in 2023, Abreu played for another Atlantic League ball club, the Spire City Ghost Hounds, registering 13 HR and 43 RBI in 100 ALPB appearances. The High Point Rockers would acquire the rights to Osvaldo Abreu through the Spire City dispersal draft, and this month, the Flying Boxcars acquired the infielder in a trade, in exchange for a player to be named at a later date.

 

LHP Mike Kickham

Kickham, a Missouri State Bear, was drafted to the San Francisco Giants organization in 2010, and quickly reached the AAA level in 2013. Kickham only needed two months with the AAA Fresno Grizzlies, before getting called up to the majors, and in May of 2013, he made his debut for the Giants, facing off against the A’s. Between 2019 and 2021, Kickham would also make appearances for the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Not only does Kickham bring another major league arm to Hagerstown, but he also represented Lexington in the Atlantic League last season. 

 

C Mike Gulino

Mike Gulino, an established indy ball player, joins the Flying Boxcars with a lot of Atlantic League and partner league experience. A four year player at Pace University, Gulino joined the American Association Cleburne Railroaders to begin his professional career. In the ALPB, he has represented the High Point Rockers, making 111 appearances, and most recently played under manager Mark Mason for the Empire State Greys last season. 

 

RHP Yeudy Garcia

Yeudy Garcia, a former member of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, joins the Flying Boxcars pitching group. Garcia reached the AA level in 2017, representing the Altoona Curve, having several stints with the ball club over the next few seasons. In 2023, Garcia made his ALPB debut, striking out 81 batters with the Lexington Counter Clocks. He brings extensive minor league experience to the Flying Boxcars roster.

March 5

RHP Edubray Ramos

After signing for the St Louis Cardinals association in 2010 as a 17 year old international free agent, Ramos would join the Phillies Venezuelan Summer League side in 2013. After successful stints in rookie leagues, Ramos was elevated to the AA level affiliate of the Phillies – the Reading Fightin’ Phils. Across levels in 2014, Ramos posted 10 saves with a 0.81 ERA, and 48 strikeouts in 4413 innings. Then in 2016, Ramos was promoted to the Phillies major league roster, making his first appearance against the San Francisco Giants. Across the next few seasons with the Phillies, Ramos was effective in relief, and in 2018 he notched a 3–1 record, with a save and a 2.32 ERA. In 2020, Ramos had short stints with the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers organizations before entering the Atlantic league as a member of Lexington and Long Island. Ramos’ major league and Atlantic League experience provides the Flying Boxcars with yet another talented arm heading into their inaugural season.

RHP Brett Matthews

Brett Matthews, an Arizona native, stayed close to home to play collegiate ball at Colorado State-Pueblo. In his collegiate career, Matthews struck out 146 batters through 112 innings pitched, and would then join the Pioneer League Grand Junction Rockies. Matthews impressed in the Pioneer League, and would then be picked up by the Colorado Rockies organization, making appearances for the ACL Rockies, A+ Spokane Indians and the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes. Matthews brings affiliated and independent ball experience to the Flying Boxcars. 

INF Luis Yanel Diaz

Diaz began his playing career at the age of 17, joining the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. In 2021, Diaz was promoted to the Dodger affiliate AA Drillers and A Quakes. Then in 2022, Diaz recorded 17 home runs and 79 runs batted in across the A and A+ levels, and most recently represented the A+ Great Lakes Loons in 2023. Diaz brings affiliated ball experience to the club.

February 28

IF Abiatal Avelino

Avelino was signed to the New York Yankees organization in 2011, as an international free agent. In 2013, he split time with the Staten Island and Gulf Coast Yankees, registering 23 RBI and was named a minor league association all-star. In 2018, Avelino was elevated to the double A Trenton Thunder, where he was a mid-season all-star and then rose to the triple A Railriders. Avelino was then traded to the San Francisco Giants, where he would make his major league debut, along with six appearances for the club. In the following years, Avelino played for several other MLB farm systems, including the Cubs and the Dodgers, before signing with the Atlantic League Counter Clocks last season.

LHP Jose Lopez

Jose Lopez made his professional baseball debut in 2016 with the Dominican Summer League Rays, where he was signed as an international free agent. Climbing the ranks, Lopez started his 2023 campaign as a member of the Triple A Durham Bulls, after recording an 8-3 record pitching for the double A Biscuits. Lopez will make his Atlantic League debut with the Flying Boxcars, bringing yet another major league arm to the roster.

OF Welington Dotel

Welington Dotel brings tons of Atlantic League experience to the Flying Boxcars roster. Beginning his career in 2006, with the Seattle Mariners organization, Dotel became an established triple A and independent ball player. Dotel played 330 games for the York Revolution from 2018 to 2021, under Manager Mark Mason, batting .313 and notching 29 home runs and 176 runs batted in. 

 
February 22

 

OF Eury Perez

Outfielder Eury Perez becomes the first player announced by the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars to be under contract for the 2024 season. Perez, a local fan favorite, makes his return to the city after last playing for the Hagerstown Suns in 2010, before moving up the Washington Nationals farm system. While representing the Suns, Perez played 131 games in the South Atlantic League, registering 42 runs batted in, as well as notching 64 stolen bases. Since then, Perez has made appearances for three Major League ball clubs (Nationals, Yankees, Braves), most recently making 47 appearances for the Atlanta Braves in 2015. Perez also brings 17 games of Atlantic League experience to the table, slashing .400 for the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes in 2022, while recording 6 RBI. Perez was also a member of the 2013 Dominican Republic side that won the World Baseball Classic in San Francisco. 

 

LHP Joe Palumbo

Palumbo, a New York native, began his playing career for an amateur side, the Long Island Black Sox, where at the age of 18, he was scouted by the Texas Rangers. Then in 2013, the Rangers drafted Palumbo, thus beginning his professional career. In 2019, he was elevated to the AAA level, registering 108 strikeouts over 80.5 innings, and earning himself a spot as a Minor League All Star. Palumbo then made several appearances for the Texas Rangers through 2020, and after a brief stint with the Giants organization, he would yet again return to the Rangers in 2023, where he most recently played for the AAA Round Rock Express. 

 

RHP Parker Markel

Markel’s playing career began in 2010, when he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He would remain in the farm system through the 2016 season, making appearances at several levels including the AAA Durham Bulls, and posting a 7-3 record in his final year as a member of the organization. Markel made his MLB debut in May of 2018, for the Seattle Mariners, facing off against the Boston Red Sox, and made his most recent MLB appearance out of the bullpen for the Oakland Athletics in 2022. Throughout his playing career, Markel has been a member of a number of other farm systems including the Padres, Angels and White Sox. Markel brings Major League experience, and talent, to a brand new Flying Boxcars roster.
