Getting to Know Mark Minicozzi Pt. I

1. Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. I played my high school baseball there before going on to play college baseball at East Carolina University.

2. What was your favorite sport as a kid?
Growing up in the Philadelphia area, I was a huge sports fan. Football, baseball, basketball, and hockey were on the TV almost every night—it was just part of the culture.

3.What was your favorite MLB team?
Growing up, my favorite baseball team was the Philadelphia Phillies.

4. Who was your favorite professional athlete you looked up to?
Two players I really looked up to were Chipper Jones and Cal Ripken Jr., both for how they competed, prepared, and carried themselves as professionals.

5. When did you start playing baseball?
I started playing baseball at five years old. I was a gym-rat type kid early on—give me a baseball, a tennis ball, a lacrosse ball, and a wall, and I was happy. From a young age, I was obsessed with getting better and set my sights on becoming a professional player.
